MAGNA CITY PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice of Vacancy and Appointment as Council Member for District 5
Pursuant to Utah Code ยง 20A-1-510, Magna hereby gives notice of a vacancy of council member for District 5 due to Audrey Pierce, the current District 5 Council Member, resigning on August 17, 2026. The remaining term will be from September 8, 2026, through December 31, 2027.
Individuals interested in applying for appointment to the District 5 vacant seat on the Magna City Council must meet the following qualifications for office:
- Be a registered voter of Magna.
- Be a resident of Magna in District 5 for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the appointment date of September 8, 2026.
- Be a resident of Magna in District 5 until December 31, 2027.
- Be able to take office September 8, 2026, if appointed.
Individuals must complete and submit an Application for Appointment, which includes:
- Declaration of Candidacy Form **DO NOT SIGN PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT**
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure and Campaign Finance Disclosure
- Resume (not to exceed 3 pages)
- Letter of Intent Describing Why You Want to Be on the City Council (not to exceed 1 page)
- General Rules Regarding Appointment Voting
- $50 Declaration of Candidacy Filing Fee (per current Magna City Fee Schedule)
All applicants must make an appointment and declare their candidacy IN PERSON (BY APPPOINTMENT ONLY) with the City Recorder, Diana Baun, at the MSD Offices in Taylorsville between Wednesday, August 26, 2026 and Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District Offices, 860 W. Levoy Dr., Suite 300, Taylorsville, UT 84123. Please contact Diana Baun at the phone number/email below to schedule an appointment and obtain an Application for Appointment.
COMPLETED APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT MUST BE SUBMITTED to City Recorder, Diana Baun, in person at the address above no later than 4:30pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The Magna City Council will interview each applicant openly in a public meeting and appoint the new Council Member Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Broadway Building, 3151 S. Broadway St., Magna, UT 84044. The appointed Council Member for District 5 shall take office that night on September 8, 2026.
