NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING GARFIELD COUNTY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Garfield County Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, September 14th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The hearing will take place in the Commission Chambers of the Garfield County Courthouse located at 55 South Main Panguitch, UT. The purpose of this public hearing is to obtain citizen feedback, review, and receive public comment regarding a proposed funding application to be submitted to the Utah Permanent Community Impact Fund Board (CIB). The County intends to request funding for the following project: - Project Name: Garfield County Jail Expansion - Description and Scope: The project will add 40 inmate beds along with the necessary support facilities. This expansion is critical to addressing current overcrowding and enhancing the safety and security of both inmates and staff. - Total Estimated Project Cost: $ 5,666,254.00 - Requested CIB Funding Amount: $ 3,500,000.00 The County is applying to the CIB for this funding assistance in the form of a grant. ATTENTION CITIZENS AND PROPERTY OWNERS: Notice is hereby given to the public that while Garfield County is requesting a grant, the CIB has the sole authority to determine the final funding structure. The CIB may approve this request entirely or partially as a loan. In the event that the CIB awards a loan, the County would be required to repay the principal and any applicable interest. This repayment would be funded through general fund allocations. The public is invited to attend and offer comments regarding the project scope, financial impacts, and potential loan repayment options.
