Cannonville Town Council Meeting Minutes
AUGUST 2026
Cannonville town held their regular Monthly Board Meeting Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, in the town Hall. The meeting began at 7:00pm.
Public in Attendance: Bailey & Stacie Mathews, Anita Fletcher, Valarie & Brandon Ott, Myriah Thompson, Mark Nelson, Arjean Ivie, Cherie Scoffield, Stacey Catton, Russell Baldwin, Jeanee Shakespeare, & Eric Gamboni
Board Members: Stewart Ivie, Alma Fletcher, Landyn Brinkerhoff, Mayor Bill Scoffield, Davis Kendrick; Machele Nelson, clerk
Prayer: Alma Fletcher
Pledge: Stewart Ivie
Reading and Approval of Agenda: The agenda was reviewed, no adjustments. Motion to adopt as presented by Steward Ivie, 2nd by Davis Kendrick, all were in favor.
Reading and Approval of minutes: July 15th, 2026, town council meeting minutes were read and reviewed. Motion to approve was by Landyn Brinkerhoff, 2nd by Stewart Ivie, all were in favor.
Mayor's Items: Mayor Scoffield welcomed everybody to the August 2026 meeting. He was looking forward to the annual audit Friday August 21st. He reviewed how the audits become more specific and detailed when revenues and expenditures exceed a $1M.
Mayor Scoffield commented that he hadn't heard anything new from SITLA. He highlighted plans for another AM250 celebration September 19th honoring and remembering 'Constitution Day.' Program to include Betsy Ross, line dancing and food. He then spent some time talking about the state and regional work being done on hazard and emergency mitigation plans. Departmental Reports:
Planning: Mr. Pete Jensen was excused; nothing to report about town projects.
Water: Mr. Alma Fletcher reported the airline to the bottom of the well had been activated and was giving good depth readings. Always beneficial in managing the well. He talked about the 'cone of depression' and how it takes a couple of hours for the water to refill the sandstone cavity around the pump. The work with installation of SCADA controls is on track.
Fire: Stewart invited folks to attend another training session to be scheduled in the next couple of weeks. Stacie and Bailey Mathews, Melanie Muir, Rob Mathews, and Brandon Ott are interested in helping and training. The Henrieville Fire Chief, McKinley Nez then thanked the town for funding updated head protection gear for the Henrieville fire dept. They have always responded to Cannonville fires.
Parks: Mr. Davis Kendrick indicated he was working with Mr. Carter Mortensen on some additional electrical work in the park kitchen and the stage.
Roads: Landyn Brinkerhoff reported some of the street signs have been installed. He had a concern about the Kodachrome Road sign. More info to come.
Public: Mr. Eric Gamboni, freelance mural artist working for Clear Skies, again outlined his interest in putting some of his work on the south facing side of the south tank. He passed around examples.
Clerk: Monthly reports were made available for review and control sheet signatures.
