Description/Agenda
PUBLIC NOTICE: COMMUNITY INPUT ON PROPOSED STATE PARK The Town Council is seeking vital community feedback regarding a proposed state park project. The state parks department has explicitly indicated they will not proceed with the proposal if our town does not support it. Your voice will directly determine whether this project aligns with our community's preferences. Please review the upcoming schedule of events, presentation details, and survey information below to participate. Public Listening Sessions Date: Saturday, August 22 Time: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Structure: Four identical, repeating one-hour sessions starting at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. Residents may attend whichever single hour is most convenient. Location: Maple Springs Park. Presentation & Review of Plans State Representatives: Officials from the state parks department will be in attendance to present a tentative, non-finalized plan for the park. They will answer questions, receive feedback, and document resident concerns. Advance Review: The town has requested a copy of the tentative plan ahead of time. It will be made available for public review before August 22 so residents can examine the details prior to attending. Community Feedback Survey Timeline: A two-week community survey will launch immediately following the conclusion of the listening sessions. Eligibility: Open to all town residents 18 years of age and older. Formats: Available in both online and paper formats. Residents will also have the option to fill out and submit the survey directly at the listening sessions. Security & Anonymity: Limited to one response per resident. An address or similar identifier will be required to verify residency, but all personal information will remain completely anonymous in reporting. Content: The survey will ask whether you support, oppose, or are undecided about the proposed state park, alongside open space for specific comments and concerns. Next Steps & Reporting Following the two-week window, all survey responses will be compiled into a comprehensive public report. This report will summarize overall levels of support and opposition and highlight the most common themes and concerns. The findings will be formally presented to both the Town Council and state parks representatives to guide the final decision on the project.
