Minutes of Panguitch City Library Board Meeting May 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM The Panguitch City Library Board meeting was held at the Panguitch City Library at 25 South 200 East in Panguitch, Utah. Those in attendance were Jon Torgerson, Lucy Sarles, Les Gripkey, Tracy Wright, Verlaine Spencer, Shannon Fawson, Joanne Savage, Julie Bishop, Clay Meldrum Welcome - The meeting was called to order by Shannon Fawson at 6:01 PM Approval of the Agenda - Motion: Jon Torgerson, Second: Tracy Wright Approval of the Minutes for the February 9, 2026 Board meeting Motioned: Tracy Wright, Second: Jon Torgerson Library Board Business - There was no Library Board Business to address at this meeting. Panguitch City Library Budget - Tracy Wright stated that a tentative budget will be finalized by the City Council next month. Librarian Business -The installation of the donated shelves is still on hold. The problem seems to be scheduling a crew to do it, i.e. prisoners or city maintenance. FOTL has the shelf assembly instructions. Librarian Reports - Verlaine Spencer announced that she will be retiring on August 13. It was stated that Matt Houston plans to advertise for the position in July. Tracy Wright suggested that she make a list of her responsibilities to help with the hiring process. Lucy Sarles reported that the library has received a second technology grant which will be used to upgrade 2 computers, all internet so there will be 24/7 internet access. The password is granted by coming into the library. Policies - All policies are up to date and have been sent to Barry Huntington. Friends of the Library - Clay Meldrum and Julie Bishop reported that they are getting ready for their summer activities: Quilt Walk, Summer Reading Programs and possibly the Balloon Fest. They are also looking into replacing/repairing/updating the Return box. Options discussed were repainting it, getting a wrap for the current box (It was suggested that they contact Trent Atkin for wrap information), and looking for a grant to purchase a new one. Images and style were discussed. Bookmobile Business - No Bookmobile business was presented. Unfinished Business - There was no unfinished business. New Business - Tracy Wright reported that food boxes would be available again this summer, the schedule for pick-up days is not settled yet, but will likely be on Wednesdays between 3:00 and 5:00 or 5:30 PM starting in June. She reminded the board that training for the volunteers must be done every year and will be available May 28; she will make the link available on the Library Board text or email feed. Set time and date of the next meeting and Adjournment The Board unanimously agreed to next meet on August 10, 2026, at 6:00 PM and Les Gripkey made the motion to adjourn at 6:22 PM. Shannon suggested that there be a small retirement party for Verlaine on that date.
