PUBLIC HEARINGS:
1. TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING TO RECEIVE PUBLIC COMMENT ON THE CERTIFIED TAX RATE
BACKGROUND: The Clearfield City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2027 interim budget on June 23, 2026, and scheduled a public hearing on the proposed property tax rate for August 4, 2026. The Council is now considering adoption of the final Fiscal Year 2027 budget, which includes a proposed property tax rate of 0.001253, an increase from last year's rate of 0.001218. The proposed increase above the certified tax rate is expected to generate about $233,106 in additional property tax revenue. Because the proposed tax rate is higher than the certified tax rate of 0.001176 calculated by Davis County, Utah law requires the City to hold a Truth in Taxation public hearing.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive public comment and announce that the City Council will consider final adoption of the Fiscal Year 2027 budget and property tax rate at its meeting on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
