Plymouth Town Clerk Needed
We would like to thank Paige Thompson for her many years of service as our Town Clerk. She has done an amazing job, and she will be sorely missed! The Town Clerk has the following duties:
Public Notice Postings: The clerk manages the posting of all town council agendas, public hearing announcements, and official legal notices to the Utah Public Notice Website and required local venues. They are also in charge of putting together the monthly 'Plymouth Town News' newsletter.
Minutes and Proceedings: They must attend all town council meetings to officially document attendance, record votes, and prepare the official meeting minutes to comply with the Utah Open and Public Meetings Act.
Ordinances and Resolutions: The clerk records and permanently indexes all newly passed municipal laws, codes, and resolutions, verifying their authenticity with the official town seal.
Contract Countersigning: Every contract or official agreement made on behalf of the town must be countersigned and filed by the clerk to be legally binding.
Chief Election Officer: For local municipal races, the clerk acts as the primary election official. They oversee candidate filings, ballot preparation, and voter inquiries in coordination with the county clerk's office.
Oaths of Office: The clerk administers oaths of office to newly elected or appointed town officials and maintains the official registry of terms and vacancies.
