VERNAL CITY ORDINANCES 2026-19, 2026-20, 2026-21, 2026-22, 2026-23, AND 2026-24 ADOPTED
Notice is hereby given that the Vernal City Council has adopted Ordinances 2026-19, 2026-20, 2026-21, 2026-22, 2026-23, AND 2026-24, amending various provisions of the Vernal City Municipal Code relating to land use, planning, zoning, and subdivision regulations.
The adopted ordinances include the following:
Ordinance No. 2026-19 amends Section 16.06.010 to clarify procedures governing amendments to Title 16 of the Vernal City Municipal Code by separating general land use regulation amendments from amendments to the Official Zoning Map.
Ordinance No. 2026-20 adopts new Chapter 16.07 establishing procedures for amendments to the Official Zoning Map, including application, notice, public hearing, review, and approval requirements for future rezones.
Ordinance No. 2026-21 amends Sections 16.42.080 and 16.44.080 to establish additional standards for multifamily residential development within the R-3 and R-4 Residential Zones, including provisions for dwelling unit mix, common open space, and building articulation.
Ordinance No. 2026-22 amends and reorganizes subdivision procedures by updating Section 16.58.110 and adopting new Sections 16.58.112, 16.58.114, 16.58.116, and 16.58.118 governing subdivision amendments, subdivision vacations, boundary adjustments, boundary establishments, and lot combinations.
Ordinance No. 2026-23 amends Section 16.16.050 to modernize Planned Residential Unit Development (PRUD) submittal requirements and coordinate final plat approval procedures with the City's subdivision regulations.
Ordinance No. 2026-24 amends Section 16.24.160 to clarify requirements and administrative procedures for off-site improvements associated with development, including standards for exceptions, deferrals, alternative compliance, and improvement assurances.
Collectively, these ordinances are intended to improve the clarity, consistency, and administration of Vernal City's land use and development regulations while aligning municipal procedures with current Utah law and development practices.
Ordinances 2026-19, 2026-20, 2026-21, 2026-22, 2026-23, AND 2026-24 were duly passed and adopted by the Vernal City Council on July 15, 2026.
