Town of Cannonville - Planning Commission Meeting Minutes June 17, 2026 Town of Cannonville held a Planning Commission Meeting, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in the town Hall. The meeting began at 6:00 pm. Purpose of the meeting was to continue to review the ongoing changes to the Town of Cannonville Zoning Ordinance. Public in Attendance: Bill Scoffield, Board Members: Peter Jensen, Mark Nelson, Klancy Ott, & Cole Twitchell; Chelsea Nielson excused Reading and approval of the April 15, 2026 minutes: Cole Twitchell motioned to approve; Mark Nelson 2nd, all in favor. Discussion: The Planning Commission meeting focused on reviewing and approving a newly updated zoning ordinance that had been legally reviewed by an attorney. Marshall Thompson presented a tool with legal analysis and code references that identified problematic paragraphs and suggested corrections, including links to actual Utah and Garfield County codes. The main concern discussed was whether agricultural uses would be permitted in residential zones, with participants agreeing that agriculture should remain allowed under the rural character designation. Pete Jensen expressed concerns about the document's complexity and potential legal liabilities, while others argued for adopting a foundation document that could be modified later. After extensive discussion about the process, public involvement, and legal requirements, the commission voted to approve the zoning ordinance to move it forward to the town council for final decision. Motion by Klancy Ott, 2nd by Cole Twitchell, all approved. Adjourned: 6:53pm
