Mayor Sprague called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. The Mayor informed the public that proper notice for the city council meeting had been given. Hunter Whitney gave an opening expression of choice and the Council recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

1- REGIONAL GROWTH SUMMIT DISCUSSION-
The Aurora City Council and Planning Commission met together to discuss things that were learned at the R6 Regional Growth Conference. Each member shared their impressions of the classes they attended and items that they felt were things for Aurora City to incorporate.

City Council Meeting-
1- APPROVAL OF MINUTES-
The City Council reviewed the minutes of the April 20, 2026 meeting
City Council Member Hunter Whitney moved to accept the minutes of the April 20, 2026 meeting with corrections. City Council Member Amy Croft seconded the motion. The motion was approved by members: Whitney, Croft, Rasmussen, Johnson and Vercimak.
2- VISIT FROM SEVIER COUNTY COMMISSION CANDIDATE JED MAXWELL-
Mr. Jed Maxwell came before the City Council to discuss his candidacy for the Sevier County Commission Seat A. Mr. Maxwell informed the Council that he would like to be a County Commissioner because of his experience on the Salina City Council and having served two terms as Salina City Mayor. Mr. Maxwell talked about his ability to acquire funding for projects and the need to make hard and smart decisions. The Council thanked Mr. Maxwell for visiting their meeting.
3- OPEN SESSION-
Sevier County Commissioner Scott Johnson approached the Council to give them an update on the bike path from Salina to Aurora. He also discussed several issues from Sevier County along with representation on the new CIB Board.
4- NORTH SEVIER YOUTH COURT DONATION-
Mr. Johnson explained to the Council that representatives from the North Sevier Youth Court had requested their annual donation of $750.00.
City Council Member Andy Rasmussen moved to donate $750.00 to the North Sevier Youth Court. City Council Member Parker Vercimak seconded the motion. The motion was approved by members: Rasmussen, Vercimak, Johnson, Croft and Whitney.

5- BID OPENING-
Aurora City received five bids for the lot that they own located at 240 W 100 N in Aurora. Mayor Sprague stated that a reserve of $65,000 had been placed on the lot.
1st bid opened - Tyson Hansen - $40,000
2nd bid opened - Jerry Taylor - $68,500
3rd bid opened - Jereth Dunne - $44,000
4th bid opened - Braden Robles - $33,000
5th bid opened - Janzen Kiesel - $71,100
The Council discussed each bid with the earnest money that was also submitted-
Council Member Parker Vercimak moved to accept the high bid from Janzen and Brooklyn Kiesel and to give them 24 hours to submit $1,000.00 in earnest money to Aurora City. Council Member Andy Rasmussen seconded the motion. The motion was approved by members: Vercimak, Rasmussen, Johnson, Croft and Whitney.
6- REQUEST FROM DEVELOPER JOE SCHONEY FOR HELP IN DEVELOPING PROPERTY -
Joe Schoney, a developer who owns property he would like to develop, came before the Aurora City Council to request help in making his property qualify for development by assisting him in obtaining water. Mr. Schoney stated that he cannot develop the 10-acre parcel that he owns because he doesn't have the required water needed to turn into Aurora City for development. The Council was sympathetic to the needs of Mr. Schoney but informed him that water is going to be essential for any future growth and development. He also stated that he might be willing to go ahead and just sell the property to get out from under it.
7- AURORA CITY BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT-
City Council Member Hunter Whitney informed the Council that a beautification committee has been put in place to help encourage residents to clean up and beautify their homes. Mr. Hunter requested funding so that prizes could be awarded to those who do a good job monthly and for the year.

Council Member Hunter Whitney moved to approve $2000.00 in funding for the beautification committee to use to award prizes. Council Member Andy Rasmussen seconded the motion. The motion was approved by members: Whitney, Rasmussen, Croft, Vercimak and Johnson.
8- JULY 4TH CELEBRATION-
City Council Member Cory Johnson informed the Council that plans were being finalized for the annual celebration. The Council discussed the North Sevier High School Officers who help with the games and arrangements. Mr. Johnson stated that he has been in touch with the school and Mrs. Ivie and that they are ready to go.
9- SHAY MORRISON R6 REGIONAL GROUP-
Mr. Morrison thanked Aurora City for their attendance at the Regional Growth Summit. Aurora City had the best attendance from all of the communities in the six county region. Mr. Morrison also discussed the new CIB Board and application process, truth in taxation process, the June 18th golf tournament and the Wildland URI.
10- VISIT FROM YOUTH COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES-
Hannah and Elle Johnson approached the Council to discuss the Aurora Youth Council and the things they have been doing. The Youth Council have a pickleball tournament scheduled for June 8th and will help with the 4th of July celebrations.
11- COUNCIL MEMBER REPORTS-
Amy Croft- Ms. Croft informed the Council everything was good with the Court and the buildings.
Hunter Whitney- Mr. Whitney told the Council that the NS Recreation Board had met and discussed several issues including a new financial officer, Beehive Bags group and their rental of the Recreation Building, increase in soccer participation and potential radio announcements.
Cory Johnson- Mr. Johnson stated that animal control issues have recently been fairly quiet but that they will flare up again soon.

Parker Vercimak- Mr. Vercimak stated that the Christmas at Willowbend group is having organizational meetings for their event in November. He also discussed the Youth Council and their summer plans.
Andy Rasmussen- Mr. Rasmussen discussed some ordinance enforcement and his visits with the police department and fire department.
Jordon Bosh- Mr. Bosh stated that he has concerns with the West Park and some potential vandalism and problems. He also stated that he has been getting pressure to hire a new mower and that Glen Lewis has expressed interest in the job.
12- WATER AND FINANCIAL REPORTS REVIEWS-
The Council reviewed the water usage report, delinquent report as well as the list of checks written and the budget.
13- ADJOURNMENT-
The Council completed their business at 9:38pm and the meeting was adjourned with
Parker Vercimak offering a closing expression of choice.
