VERNAL CITY ORDINANCE NO 2026-14 ADOPTED
Notice is hereby given that the Vernal City Council has adopted Ordinance No. 2026-14, amending the Vernal City Water Billing Rates and Rate Structure. This Ordinance was adopted in a regular City Council meeting on June 3, 2026, and amended in a Special City Council Meeting on June 10, 2026.
This ordinance updates the City's culinary water rate structure by establishing revised meter-based base charges, tiered volumetric water rates, and a uniform billing framework applicable to all customer classifications. The ordinance also provides for an annual adjustment to volumetric water rates beginning in January of 2028, establishes a pass-through mechanism for state-imposed water consumption fees, and outlines a periodic review process for future rate adjustments. The purpose of the ordinance is to encourage water conservation, promote efficient water use, provide a fair and usage-based billing structure, and ensure adequate funding for the operation, maintenance, and long-term sustainability of Vernal City's water system.
Ordinance 2026-10 was duly passed and adopted by the Vernal City Council on June 3, 2026, and amended in a Special City Council Meeting on June 10, 2026.
The ordinance takes effect immediately upon adoption and posting, as provided by law. A copy
of the ordinance is on file and available for public inspection at the Vernal City Recorder's Office
