Wellington City Council Minutes Meeting held February 25, 2026 at Wellington City Hall Located at 102 N 100 W, Wellington, Utah at 6:00 P.M. Present: Mayor Jack Clark, Councilman Bill Juber, Councilman Bryan Thayn, Councilman Kyle Monson, Councilmember Kathy Hascall Absent: Councilman Cody Austin City Staff: Aliza Mellick, Nicole Oveson, Interim Chief of Police Kevin Saccomano, Fire Chief George Anderson Attendees: Mr. Mellick, Miranda Saccomano and family, Courtney Judd, Jennifer Clark Agenda Item #1 Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call, and Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes At 6:00 pm, Mayor Clark opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance. During roll call it was noted that everyone was present except Councilman Austin. There were no minutes to approve. Agenda Item #2 Public Comment Period Courtney Judd asked about the CBDG grant the city was applying for. Bryan Thayn informed her that the city had missed the deadline for this year and that we would apply during the next application session. Agenda Item #3 2026 Easter Egg Hunt & Coloring page to be mailed out to the public Coloring page was presented for discussion. All agreed the proposal was a good idea. Fire department and Friends of Wellington to coordinate the event. Friends of Wellington to deliver flyers and judge the contest. Prizes need to be purchased. Eggs have already been delivered. There should/will be 4 separate areas for different age groups. The event will be held March 28th, 2026 at Wellington City Park. Motion: No motion necessary Agenda Item #4 Updated Shut Off / Turn On Form An updated Shut off/Turn On Form was submitted to council for approval. Treasurer explained the reasoning behind the changes. Motion: Councilman Monson made a motion to approve the form. Councilmember Hascall seconded motion. All approved. Agenda Item #5 Vote on Kevin Saccomano as Chief of Police Kevin Saccomano was asked to accept the position as Wellington City's Chief of Police. Kevin Saccomano accepted position. Mayor Jack Clark swore in Kevin Saccomano as new chief of Police after motion was passed to appoint Kevin Saccomano as Chief of Police. Kevin Saccomano gave his thanks for the support of the city council, also thanking his family and the city's employees. Kevin Saccomano also replied that he would do the best that he could as our chief. Motion: Councilman Thayn made a motion to approve hiring Kevin Saccomano for the position of Police Chief. Councilman Monson seconded motion. All approved. Agenda Item #6 Swear in Aliza Mellick as Deputy Recorder Aliza Mellick was sworn in as Deputy Recorder to perform the duties of the recorder during the absence of Rebecca Evans who is on leave. Motion: Councilman Thayn made the motion to appoint Aliza Mellick as deputy recorder. Councilmember Hascall seconded. All approved. Agenda Item #7 Unfinished Business Fire Chief Anderson notified council of the hiring of 2 new firefighters. Grant Availability - Tina regarding tourism grant for Wellington. Friend of Wellington Is willing to help in any way they can. Agenda Item #8 Possible Closed Session to Discuss the Character, Professional Competence, or Physical or Mental Health of an Individual. Motion: Councilmember Thayn made a motion to enter a closed session at 6:19 PM. Councilmember Monson seconded the motion. All others approved. Councilmember Monson made a motion to exit the closed session at 7:31 PM. Councilmember Hascall seconded the motion. All others approved Adjourn Motion: Councilmember Thayn made a motion to adjourn. Councilmember Hascall seconded the motion. All others approved. Meeting adjourned at 7:40 pm Next meeting will be March 11, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. at the Wellington City Hall.
