PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mantua Town Council, Utah, will hold its Special Meeting in person at Mantua Town Hall, located at 409 North Main St., Mantua, Utah, for the purposes and at the times described below on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
1. CALL TO ORDER
- Roll Call
2. PRESENTATIONS & SECURITY BUDGET OVERVIEW
- Department Presentations:
o Jim Jones, Mantua Police Commissioner
o Lt. Brenchley, Utah Highway Patrol (UHP)
o Chief Deputy Cade Palmer, Box Elder County Sheriff's Office
o Jim Peters, Administrative Office of the Courts
o Anne Hansen, Box Elder County Attorney's Office
- Discussion Topics: Review of budgets for police, courts, and public safety departments.
- Prior Meeting Review: Review of presentations made at the last budget meeting (Pending verification of past materials due to Council Member Cheryl Burgan's absence).
3. PUBLIC COMMENT & CONSULTATION REVIEW
- The Council will receive input from the public regarding the presentations, police, and court budgets.
- This session serves as an official opportunity for community public comments and concerns to be heard.
- Per Utah Code, no final action or binding votes will be taken during this session.
4. COUNCIL DISCUSSION & DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET REVIEW
- Review of Department Oversight & 2026-2027 Projections: Deliberation on suggested changes, adjustments, and priorities for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
o Mayor Annette Ash: Staff and Administration.
o Mayor Pro Tempore: Sewer, roads, and the fire department.
o Council Member Scott Ross: Water, building, planning and zoning.
o Council Member Cheryl Burgan (Tentative): Events, parks, EMS, and emergency management.
o Council Member Hank Dovey: Cell towers, cemetery, waste disposal, and utilities.
- Taxation Timelines: Discussion on 'Truth in Taxation' timelines if any rate adjustments are considered for the final budget.
5. ADJOURNMENT
- Motion and vote to adjourn the meeting.
