FIELD TRIP INFORMATION & ITINERARY: Much of the field trip will be on unpaved and uneven surfaces. Please exercise caution, and wear shoes and clothing for natural and wet conditions on the ground, and weather conditions-closed toed shoes and long pants are encouarged. A water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat are also recommended. We will have some of these supplies, along with fresh water and snacks during and after the field trip, provided by the Commission if needed. Look for the Jordan River Commission canopy at the meetup and site entry locations. If you arrive late, the gate to the site will be open during the field trip, and you should be able to see us from the Jordan River bridge and catch up if needed. If you get lost, please contact Soren Simonsen, Commission & Watershed Council staff at 801-706-1055 for information or emergency contact during the field trip. 2:00 PM : Meetup Location - South Jordan Riverpark Business Park (Google Map - https://maps.app.goo.gl/mc75TnghmkLXS8Nw7) - Participants will meet in the parking lot on the east side behind the office building at 10653 S River Front Parkway, South Jordan, UT 84095, near the Jordan River Trail. - Participants will gather and walk north on the Jordan River Trail, then cross the Jordan River on South Jordan Parkway (10600 South) to the Jordan River Migratory Bird Reserve access gravel road at approximately 565 W South Jordan Parkway (10600 South) on the south side of the roadway. 2:15 PM : Field Trip Site - Jordan River Migratory Bird Reserve and Willow Creek Confluence (Google Map - https://maps.app.goo.gl/tf8f2SvnTCnMixy48) - Access is from a gravel road at approximately 565 W South Jordan Parkway (10600 South) on the south side of the roadway. - Participants will tour the Jordan River Migratory Bird Reserve and Willow Creek Confluence area, which is a federal land reserve for migratory bird resting and nesting near the Jordan River. - This is an active migratory season, so partipants are encourage to use caution and be careful and conscientious in areas where migratory birds and other wildlife may be nesting. - Past and current local land managers, education partners, Commission Technical Advisory Committee members, and Commission & Watershed Council staff will share information about this restricted habitat area, and provide an opportunity to visit this area that is closed to public access. - This location is one of the active natural land restoration areas on the Jordan River that has served as an important pilot project for invasive weed species mitigation, habitat restoration, and management of water resources for habitat preservation and restoration, and water quality improvements. It is also an area located adjacent to a UTA FrontRunner Transit Station Area that is rapidly developing and redeveloping, offering an opportunity to observe and discuss adaptation to competing needs, and the urban and wild land interface in this area. - The tour will of the site will last approximately one hour. 3:15 PM : Return to Meetup Location - Following the tour, participants will return to the site entrance, cross the Jordan River along South Jordan Parkway (10600 South) back to the starting point. 3:30 PM : Adjourn
