NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT ON Tuesday, June 2, 2026,7:00 p.m. a public hearing will be held by the Salt Lake City Council to accept public comments regarding the final budget and the employment staffing document for Salt Lake City and related ordinances for Fiscal Year 2026-27.
The budget includes the proposed property tax increase as noted in the property tax impact schedule.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED TAX INCREASE
Salt Lake City is proposing to increase its property tax revenue.
Salt Lake City will consider a proposed increase to the property tax rate from .00213 To .00248 to generate an additional $13,500,000. The proposed increase will serve to support various services of the City including but not limited to the City Departments of Fire, Public Lands, Justice Court, Attorney, Community & Neighborhoods, Sustainability, and adjustments to the Street Lighting Fund, Capital Improvement Projects Fund, and Fleet Centralized Maintenance fund in addition to the arrangement between the City and the Legal Defender Association;
The estimated proposed increase to a primary residence valued at $624,000 would be an increase of $118.38, and to a commercial property valued at $1,000,000 would be an increase of $344.93.
Salt Lake City property tax on the average value of a residence is proposed to increase from $853.17 to $971.55, which is $118.38 per year.
Salt Lake City property tax on the average value of a commercial business with a valuation of $1,000,000 is proposed to increase from $2,485.93 to $2,830.86, which is $344.93 per year.
If the proposed property tax increase is approved, Salt Lake City would receive an additional $13,500,000 in property tax revenue per year as a result of the tax increase.
If the proposed property tax increase is approved, Salt Lake City would increase its property tax budgeted revenue by 12.5% above last year's property tax budgeted revenue, excluding eligible new growth.

All persons interested and present will be given an opportunity to be heard on this matter. This meeting will be held via electronic means, while also providing an in-person opportunity to attend or participate in the hearing at the City Hall, located at 451 South State Street, Room 315, Salt Lake City, Utah.
