Providence City Years of Service Staff Recognition: The City and Council will recognize staff for their years of service to the city and its residents.
Council Reports: Items presented by the City Council Members will be presented as informational only; no formal action will be taken.
Approval of the Minutes:
Item No. 1 Approval of the Minutes: The Providence City Council will consider for approval the minutes of April 15th, 2026. (MINUTES)
Reports and Presentations:
Item No. 2 Utah Government Trust Recognition: The Utah Local Government Trust will recognize the city for our work on the Trust Integrity Promise Program.
Item No. 3 Budget Officer Statement of Tax Increase Intention: The Providence City Budget Officer will state on the record that Providence City intends to pursue and is included in the tentative budget a proposed tax rate increase to fund a city library. Statement will include:
o tax rate exceeds the certified tax rate.
o Approximate dollar amount of tax revenue increase. ($250,000)
o Purpose of tax rate increase. (Fund a Providence City Library)
o Approximate percentage increase based on tax increase (19.03%)
o will provide notice of future public hearing for the purpose of hearing comments regarding the tax increase and reasoning behind it. Truth in Taxation public hearing currently set for August 4th @ 6 pm.
Item No. 4 Property Tax Impact Schedule: The Providence City Budget Officer will present a property tax impact schedule. Tax increase is to support and fund a city library.

Public Hearings:
Item No. 5 FYE 2027 Tentative Budget Public Hearing: The Providence City Council will take comments and questions from the public regarding the City's FYE 2027 tentative budgets. Tentative budget includes a proposed tax increase to support and fund a city library.
Resolutions/Ordinances:
Item No. 6 Resolution 03-2026 FYE 2027 Tentative Budgets: The Providence City Council will consider for adoption a resolution approving the FYE 2027 Tentative Budgets for all funds. Interim budgets to be approved in June. (RES 03-2026)

Plans and Other Business:
Item No. 7 Fire District Alternatives Continued Discussion: The Providence City Council will review, discuss and may take action on plans for on alternatives to the Fire District and the city's involvement. This is continued discussion from the last city council meeting where Cache County Executive Daines presented a memorandum regarding the Fire District.
Item No. 8 Library Survey Update and Plans: The Providence City Council will review the updated data from the library survey and may take action on plans regarding the County Library here in town which is set to lose funding by the end of the year.
