Portage Town Council Meeting March 17, 2026 Meeting minutes Call To Order The Portage Town Council special meeting was called to order on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 6:00 PM. The meeting was held at the Portage Town Hall 25880 N 9000 W Portage UT Opening Ceremony: Prayer Pledge An invocation was offered by Mariah, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Trent. Action Item - Discuss And Vote On Water Meters And Radio Read System Councilmember Nelson presented a revised breakdown of the water meter project costs totaling $86,661.01, which represented a reduction from the previously approved amount. The proposal would require paying an additional $1,000 mobilization fee if the project were to be completed in phases at a later date. After discussion, the Council determined that the $86,000 cost remained too high for the town's budget. Councilmember Nelson noted that alternative options, such as manual meter reading with hired personnel, could be explored. Motion: Councilmember Nelson moved to cancel the previously approved contract with Meter Works and explore different options at a later date. Motion Passed unanimously. Adjournment Motion: A motion to adjourn was made and seconded. Motion Passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
