Description/Agenda: The Bluff Town Council approved Town of Bluff, Utah Ordinance NO. 2026-03 An Ordinance Enacting Provisions Regulating Engine Brake/Dynamic Braking Devices during their regularly scheduled and duly noticed Town Council Meeting on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. This ordinance restricts the use of engine braking devices (commonly known as 'Jake brakes') within the Town of Bluff to reduce excessive noise and protect residents' quality of life. It generally prohibits engine brake use unless it is reasonably necessary for safety, such as in emergency situations or to prevent imminent danger. The regulation applies town-wide, with allowances for emergency vehicles and situations where compliance would conflict with state or federal safety requirements. Violations are enforceable by law enforcement, with fines starting at $110 and increasing for repeat offenses. This ordinance is effective immediately.
