The Bluff Town Council approved Town of Bluff, Utah Ordinance NO. 2026-02 An Ordinance Regulating the Idling of Ground Transportation Vehicles Within Town Limits during their regularly scheduled and duly noticed Town Council Meeting on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
This ordinance limits how long vehicles can idle within the Town of Bluff to reduce air pollution, protect public health, and conserve fuel, with an emphasis on education and voluntary compliance. It prohibits most ground transportation vehicles from idling for more than 15 consecutive minutes on public property and private property open to the public, with certain exceptions such as traffic delays, emergency vehicles, safety requirements, and extreme weather conditions. Enforcement begins with a warning, followed by fines for violations, starting at $110 and increasing for repeated offenses. This ordinance is effective immediately.
