3. Charlie Erickson was not present to discuss his project for a convenience store/gas station at 2900 W Hwy 218. Secretary Dave Lee communicated an email conversation he had with Seth Tait about this project. Mr. Erickson should prepare all the documents necessary to amend the Land Use Code so that this project could move forward. Those documents would be presented to P&Z for review. Town Attorney Seth Tait also recommended that Mr. Erickson obtain legal counsel to help write up such documents. This information was passed on to Mr. Erickson in an email from the Secretary.
4. Items for discussion:
Planning for a Public Hearing on May 6, 2026, in connection with the regular P&Z meeting on State mandated Subdivision Ordinance revision. This process began in 2024. The State mandated all cities and towns to have their Subdivision Ordinance reviewed and updated to comply with new State legislation. The State paid for the review. They provided a list of firms that were approved by the state to do the work. We selected Sunrise Engineering from Ogden. Daniel Jenson, an attorney from the Ogden area, was our contact person. After the process was completed, we had our town attorney, Seth Tait, review the document. He found several areas that needed to be addressed. He and secretary Dave Lee worked on this project. The document is now finished and needs to have a Public Hearing before it can be approved and passed on to the Town Council for their Public Hearing and approval.
Forwarding of two eviction notices to the Town Board for action. These two will be presented to the Town Board at their next meeting on April 8th for action.
Assignment of street numbers when new homes are built.
Amalga Town has never assigned street numbers. The county has always been the entity to do this. Apparently, that has changed. Secretary Dave Lee visited the County Recorder's office and they want the town to assign these numbers from now on. We had three lots that needed to have numbers assigned to them. They were the three Noble lots, parcel ID's 13-014-0025, 13-014-0046, 13-014-0023. The property addresses are now listed on the Cache County GIS website.
Consider setting up a training meeting with Town Attorney Seth Tait on Land Use and Open and Public Meeting Laws. The secretary will contact Seth Tait and try to schedule this training meeting for May 20th, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Amalga Town Hall. This meeting will be training for P&Z members, and the Town Council. Residents are also welcome.
