VERNAL CITY ORDINANCE NO 2026-08 ADOPTED
Notice is hereby given that Ordinance No. 2026-08, an ordinance of the Vernal City Council amending Chapter 6.28.010 of the Vernal City Municipal Code relating to Cruelty to Animals, was passed and adopted March 18, 2026 in a regular City Council Meeting.
This ordinance updates and clarifies provisions governing animal cruelty within Vernal City by incorporating state law and establishing specific prohibited acts, standards of care, enforcement provisions, and penalties. The amendments define responsibilities for animal owners and custodians, outline unlawful conduct, and provide for impoundment, forfeiture, and minimum penalties for violations. The ordinance is intended to promote the health, safety, and welfare of animals within the community.
The ordinance takes effect immediately upon adoption and posting, as provided by law. A copy
of the ordinance is on file and available for public inspection at the Vernal City Recorder's Office
during regular business hours.
