Description/Agenda
The Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining meets on Wednesday, March 25, at 9 a.m. at the Department of Natural Resources building at 1594 West North Temple in Salt Lake City. The meeting will be streamed live on the Department of Natural Resources YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/live/0YYyUZ2klOM. The Division of Oil, Gas and Mining staff will conduct a briefing session at 9 a.m. 1. Division legislative update 2. Five-year renewal of Abandoned Mine Reclamation Program rules 3. Other 4. Next month's agenda and division calendar 5. Opportunity for public comment The board will hear the following matters as soon as the briefing session concludes: 1. Docket No. 2026-016 Cause No. S0250032 - In the Matter of the Notice Of Agency Action wherein the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining requests the Board issue an order forfeiting the bond covering the Emerald Green Mine, Permit No. S0250032, located in Kane County, Utah, and authorizing the Division to reclaim associated impacts from the operator, Michael L. Caruso, and authorizing the Division to take any and all additional actions necessary to recover insufficient reclamation costs 2. Docket No. 2026-017 Cause No. M0530059 - In the Matter of the Notice Of Agency Action wherein the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining requests the Board issue an order forfeiting the bond covering the Limestone Mesa/Desert Bronze Quarry, Permit No. M0530059, S40 T41S, R12W, SLMB, in Washington County, Utah, authorizing the Division to reclaim associated surface impacts from the operator, Southwest Stone, Inc., and authorizing the Division to take any and all additional actions necessary to recover insufficient costs of reclaiming the mine 3. Oil and Gas Bonding Rulemaking Comment Period - The Board will hear comments on the current version of the bonding rules.
