This grant application was reviewed at IPHS during the first week in March. The application/budget was approved to move forward.
Purpose: This funding will be used to promote targeted, intensive evidence-based home visiting services to at-risk families with children up to the age of 5. Families must reside in high-need counties, as identified by the 2020 needs assessment. This funding is not intended to be used for universal home visiting in each state, but rather is for targeted, intensive home visiting services in specific areas of the state.

This is the third year in a 5-year project period of CDC's Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) cooperative agreement. This funding opportunity provides a roadmap for PHEP recipients to design, develop, and implement strategies and activities that will improve their readiness to execute plans, respond to public health threats and emergencies, and recover from them.

HP&P approved the application this afternoon for a favorable recommendation to Governance. This year 4 cooperative agreement will support activities at the state and local governmental levels to implement evidence-based strategies and leverage resources from stakeholders and sectors (e.g., agriculture, transportation, education, business, commerce, and housing) in their populations of focus related to poor nutrition and physical inactivity. This will fund recipients to work with state and local partners to improve nutrition and access to safe physical activity, including breastfeeding, early care and education, and family healthy weight programs.

Action taken in Governance on 3/2/26 that this grant has Governance approval upon approval from HP&P; HP&P; reviewed and approved this grant application.
The goal of this continuation application is to reduce overdose deaths by enhancing Utah's ability to track and prevent nonfatal and fatal overdoses while also identifying emerging drug threats. The funding allows VIPP to continue surveillance strategies and to provide evidence-based and evidence-informed interventions that have an immediate impact on reducing overdose morbidity and mortality, with a focus on opioids, stimulants, and polysubstance use.

The WISEWOMAN (Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation) program serves low-income, uninsured, and underinsured women ages 40 to 64 years, with heart disease and stroke risk factor screenings and services that promote healthy behaviors to reduce the risk for heart disease and stroke.

Epi/Informatics Exec approved the following grant application: ELC grant BP3 application: Ginny Ambrenac and Chris Smoot met with Epi/Informatics Exec to review the proposed application. A motion was made to recommend approval of the application to Governance as proposed, and it passed unanimously.
This award will be a continuation of funds intended only for recipients previously awarded under CK24-0002, Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC). We met with EIE in February and in March to discuss the amounts that were going to LHDs.
