Cannonville Town Council Meeting Minutes FEBRUARY 2026 Cannonvillle town held their regular Monthly Board Meeting Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the town Hall. The meeting began at 6:00pm. Public in Attendance: Cherie Scoffield, Anita Fletcher, Mark Nelson, Valarie Ott, Pete Jensen, & Erik McDonald. Board Members: Stewart Ivie, Alma Fletcher, Landyn Brinkerhoff, Mayor Bill Scoffield, Davis Kendrick, & Machele Nelson, clerk. Prayer: Alma Fletcher Pledge: Stewart Ivie Reading and Approval of Agenda: The agenda was read & modified, adding 7pm to next meeting line. The agenda then adopted. Motion by Stewart Ivie, 2nd by Landyn Brinkerhoff, all were in favor. Reading and Approval of minutes: The January 21, 2026, meeting minutes were then read, reviewed and approved. Motion to approve was by Davis Kendrick, 2nd by Stewart Ivie, all were in favor. Mayor's Items -Mayor Scoffield welcomed everybody to the February 2026 meeting. He indicated the Garfield County Survey would be made available to the town. The County is interested in ideas from the citizens among other things moving forward in 2026 and beyond. Watch for copies in the post office or on the town website. -Invited members of the proposed advisory council were contacted as to the best night for meeting. The first meeting was proposed to be held before the next town council. The vision for the council is to identify projects needed in the town and help find and get grant monies. -The RV park annexation request has been approved and will be filed with the county in the next couple of weeks. Departmental Reports: Planning: Mr. Pete Jensen reported that the planning commission met to review Ashton Robertson's new building request. He didn't make it to the meeting, so no action was taken with his request for a building permit. Public: Cherie Scoffield reviewed the happenings of the local AMERICA250 planning and activities committee. Jill Singleton and friends are working on a quilt. She indicated Cannonville is planning a breakfast and bell-ringing event for May 23rd. The theme will be 'Let Freedom Ring,' and there was a discussion about polishing the town bell. A color guard from SUU has been requested for the flag raising. The AM250 funds have not been received. Water: Alma Fletcher indicated when asked about water, 'Everyone is still able to get a drink of water, right?' laughter. Some 1976 contractor installations of galvanized couplers are being identified. Several property lines in town have been dug up and replaced. Tell Johnson, of Tandem Contracting, is helping. A fund augment request has been submitted to Sunrise Engineering. The SCADA electrical designs have started. Hopefully, upgrade work to the well can start at the end of May. Parks: The kitchen sheet metal upgrades and modifications will begin again next week, according to Pete Jensen. The lawn contractor will be contacted to review the contract to include regular weed and fertilizer applications. Roads: GRM has been hauling a lot of material from the wash for crushing and washing and have been working after hours to get the rocks off the roads. Fire: Kinley Nez, Henrieville Fire Chief, was to brief the council on HB45. His briefing was rescheduled for March. Adjourned: 6:44 pm; next meeting March 18, 2026, 7pm; motion to adjourn by Stewart Ivie, 2nd by Landyn Brinkerhoff; all approved.
