Integrated Viral Hepatitis Surveillance and Prevention Supplemental Funding (BP6): The different approaches taken in this continuation application have great potential to impact acute hepatitis in Utah by focusing limited resources on a key population (those in corrections). We reviewed it and the following motion passed (motion by Kirk, 2nd by Leisha): we recommend Governance approval of this grant application as discussed with the Epi/Informatics Exec committee and local health officers.
While we were anticipating a new 5-year Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), due to the fall 2025 federal government shutdown, the PS21-2103 5-year cooperative agreement has been extended to an additional year (i.e. Year 6). Priorities for the cooperative agreement are unchanged, and funding is anticipated to be level ($457,299).

Stephanie Pocius Birth Defect Surveillance Grant: Teri Bills and Stephanie Pocius met with us regarding this application, which represents a key opportunity to help Utah Birth Defects Network (UBDN) move away from a MS Access database to integration with EpiTrax, and also an opportunity to pilot integrating automation into UBDN processes in a way that should improve processes, automate reporting, and support national standardization. The following motion passed (motion by Brian, 2nd by Jeff): we recommend Governance approval of this grant application as proposed.
To utilize eCR, UBDN will be partnering with the Division of Population Health's Informatics EpiTrax team. EpiTrax is Utah's national electronic disease surveillance database and are subject matters experts in this area. While UBDN will be the main applicants of this grant, the EpiTrax team will be heavily involved in ensuring funding requirements are met.
