PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
PROPOSED EMERGENCY SERVICES SALES AND USE TAX
Notice is being given that the Washington City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. hosted at Washington City Hall located at 111 North 100 East, Washington, Utah. The meeting will be broadcast via Youtube Live linked online at https://washingtoncity.org/meetings.The Public Hearing is for the purpose of the following:
Public hearing is to discuss, receive public input and consider approval of a Resolution on the City Council's proposal to impose an Emergency Services Sales and Use Tax pursuant to Utah Code ยง 59-12-2402. The emergency services sales and use tax is to provide funding for emergency services, including emergency medical services, fire protection, ambulance services, personnel, equipment, facilities, and related operational costs, as authorized by Utah law. The proposed emergency services sales and use tax would be imposed at a rate of 0.33 percent and would apply to taxable sales and uses occurring within the municipal boundaries of Washington City, Utah.
Public comment for this topic may be submitted through the 'Items Available for Public Comment' portal at https://washingtoncity.org/meetings. The public comment portal opens the Friday before the meeting and is available until 5:00 pm on the day preceding the meeting. Virtual or in-person meeting attendance is also welcome.
