NOTICE OF VACANCY
CITY OF GREEN RIVER MAYOR
There is a vacancy for the position of Mayor for the City of Green River. The public is hereby notified of the vacancy and the process by which the City Council will receive applications and act to appoint a registered voter to fill the unexpired term of the vacated office.
Anyone desiring to fill the vacant seat must be a registered voter and must have resided within the City of Green River for twelve consecutive months immediately prior to the date of appointment, among other qualifications described in UCA § 10-3-301.
Those interested in filling the vacancy on the Council should submit a Declaration of Candidacy to the City Recorder at julies@greenriver.utah.gov, by Friday, January 23, 2026, at 12 o'clock noon. In addition to the Declaration of Candidacy, candidates should complete the City's Conflict of Interest form. In an open meeting on January 28, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM., or as soon thereafter as possible, in the City Council Chambers at City of Green River City Hall, 460 East Main Street, Green River, UT 84525, the City Council will interview each individual who has submitted an application and who meets the qualifications for office, regarding the individual's qualifications and fitness for office. In accordance with the procedures of UCA § 20A-1-510, the Council will then make the appointment to the vacated office.
The individual appointed by the City Council shall be sworn in on January 28, 2026, and shall serve as Mayor of the City of Green River until the winner of the special election held on November 2, 2027, is sworn into office on January 3, 2028, to serve the remainder of the vacated term.
