Description/Agenda

Housed in the Department of Economic Development, the Business Advisory Board seeks to encourage economic development and target industry relocation within City boundaries. The board also helps direct City economic policy, promote small business growth, support local entrepreneurship, and assist the City in remaining responsive to the business community. Business Advisory Board meetings are held in a hybrid meeting format. Board Members and staff may participate through an online format, and members of the public may join in person at the City & County Building: 451 South State Street, Room 335, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Briefing by SLCPD 5 minutes Commander Jeffrey North and/or Detective Ezra Bitseedy from the Salt Lake City Police Department will provide an update to and answer questions from the Board. 4. Briefings by the Staff 5 minutes a. Report from the Director. Mr. Gibbs, Business Development Director, will provide updates on Transportation and the work of the Department of Economic Development to the Board. 5. Business Items a. Introduction and Welcome Councilmember Carlsen 15 minutes Councilmember Carlsen will introduce herself to the Board and discuss her priorities representing District 5 on the City Council b. Overview of 2026 Construction Projects 15 minutes Bill Knowles, Community Ombudsman for Salt Lake City, will provide an overview of large public and private construction projects slated for 2026 to the Board. c. Finalize 2026 BAB Subcommittees 15 minutes Board Chair Lyttle and Board Vice-Chair Mordue will finalize subcommittees for 2026. d. BAB elections for 2026 Chair and Vice-Chair The Board will nominate and vote on a Chair and Vice-Chair for 2026. 6. City Council Announcements - Austin Kimmel 5 minutes a. Nomination for new Council Chair and Vice-Chairs for 2026 b. Downtown Alliance (DTA) annual update to Council January 20 c. Reappointment of Andy Robertson to the Business Advisory Board 7. BAB Member Announcements 5 minutes a. BAB members will announce any upcoming events.
