Town of Mantua Council Special Meeting Minutes

Discussion and Action Items
Chief Midkiff COLA
Mayor Terry Nelson discussed the missed COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) raises for Police Chief Dakota Midkiff who has missed the last two COLA increases totaling $2.45 added to his current salary.
Karen Nelson made a motion to approve the raise for Dakota Midkiff to make up the two COLAS that he missed in the amount of $2.45 total onto his present salary, Ken Jones seconded.

Tank Overage
Town Council discussed the overspending on the tank project, referring to the overall approved budget was $98,000, but additional change orders were needed due to unexpected issues, such as excavation complications and the addition of a necessary meter. It was highlighted that some work might need to be postponed until spring, particularly due to cold weather affecting concrete pouring.

Danes Park
Karen Nelson and Marcus Abel discussed the budget for Danes Park, noting that they could allocate a total of $120,000 which includes previous funds that exceeded initial estimates. With over the $9,000 overspend on asphalt work, highlighting the need to understand the reasons behind these costs. Discussions included the placement of park features and the importance of safety for children using the new equipment. Members emphasized the need for transparency and community input in the planning process to ensure the park serves the public effectively.
Karen Nelson made a motion to adjourn, Matt Jeppsen seconded.
