TriCounty Health Department is accepting feedback on the revised wastewater rule changes. The proposed changes were initially presented to the public in October. The current draft includes feedback received by members of the public from that period. If no comments are made, this draft will be taken to the Board of Health for adoption at the January 28th meeting.
Public comments should be submitted to publiccomment@tricountyhealthut.gov. The proposed rule changes can be found in the attachments portion of this notice.
Synopsis of proposed changes:
- Contractors will be required to register with TriCounty Health Department so that training in wastewater disposal and treatment can be verified.
- Trained contractors will be allowed to evaluate sites for wastewater disposal without waiting for TriCounty Health Department to verify the work.
- Contractors will be required to notify TriCounty Health Department when evaluating proposed sites and when installing onsite wastewater systems.
- Registrations can be revoked for non-compliance with local and state rules.
- A grievance process will be added if registration is denied or revoked.
- These proposed changes would not alter siting, design, and installation requirements, but would enable contractors to expedite the process.
- Corrects some grammatical and spelling errors.
