BOUNTIFUL CITY PUBLIC NOTICE OF CITY COUNCIL VACANCY AND INTENT TO FILL
This is formal notice that the Bountiful City Council will fill a City Council vacancy caused by the resignation of Councilmember Kate Bradshaw. The City Council intends to appoint a replacement at a public meeting to be held on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. This will be an open meeting and the public and media are welcome to attend.
Per Utah Code 20A-1-510(1)(b), this notice is posted until Monday, December 29th, 2025, at City Hall, on the City and the Utah Public Notice websites inviting all interested and qualified persons to apply.
To be considered for this vacancy, you must file an application and a declaration of candidacy with the Bountiful City Recorder/Deputy Recorder during normal office hours at Bountiful City Hall** (7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday - Thursday), 795 South Main Street. Interested persons who meet the following qualifications will be interviewed in a public meeting held on Thursday, January 8th, 2026:
(1) Be a United States citizen at time of filing.
(2) Be a registered voter of the municipality.
(3) Be a resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the appointment.
(4) Not be a convicted felon, unless the right to hold elective office has been restored.
Interested persons may pick up an application and instructions from the Bountiful City Recorder/Deputy Recorder at City Hall located at 795 South Main Street, Bountiful, Utah 84010 during normal business hours (7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday) between Monday, December 15th, and Monday, December 29th. (**Please note: City Hall will be closing at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24th, 2025, and closed all day on Thursday, December 25th, 2025). The application, Declaration of Candidacy form and other related documents must be completed and physically received by the City Recorder/Deputy City Recorder no later than 5:00 p.m. MDT on Monday, December 29th, 2026. All documents submitted become a public record subject to records requests.
The term of the vacancy is through December 2027. If the appointed member wishes to serve after that date, they will be required to file for candidacy in the 2027 general municipal election and win one of the three City Council seats that will be up for election at that time.
