4. BOARD WRITTEN UPDATES (Not for Discussion)
Henefer Civic Center Public Art
Henefer has confirmed they want the Arts Council's help in writing a grant for this project.
Newpark Piano Replacement Update
The piano is ready to be decorated at a future time. We are waiting on a final budget from Summit County which we anticipate in December ($1,000 budget + $500 for moving piano etc).
Leaf Lady Update
Upon further research we have discovered the Leaf Lady is not owned by Summit County, but
rather by the City of Coalville. We have sent all relevant information to the City of Coalville so
they can follow up on repairing the Leaf Lady. Because this is not part of the Summit County
collection. The SCPAAB will not review or discuss this item.
SO/AO RFP Update
The Summit County Justice Center RFP is underway with theme including Unity, Justice and Service. Thea previously met with the Sheriff's office to discuss themes for the benches. Any theme would need to equally apply to both the Attorney's Office and the Sheriff's Office. They are reviewing themes to provide final direction. Additionally, we are waiting to see if we can get additional funding from the County's budget process to add to the funding for this project (additional request is $8,000). There is no deadline on spending currently.
Signage for Roundabout Sculptures
Staff has been working through sign permitting for roundabout sculptures with the County. We are finalizing the design of the sign (wording provided in last board packet). Cold temperatures may delay us in getting signs installed until Spring, but we will continue working on this with the sign company to get the signs installed on the trails as soon as possible.
Staff followed up on the ownership of the park and ride lot, which does belong to Summit County. Because this is a park and ride lot, we don't recommend placing signage here because it is not the most visible area for the sign and don't currently have a budget for this sign area in addition to the location already identified.
Skull Candy Building
Skull Candy Building timeline is undefined at this time, but may be as soon as the Spring. We requested guidance regarding public art from the County and whether this would be considered a 1% project.
