First Item of Business - FYE 2025 Audit Report
Brent Stratton with Haynie & Co. attended the meeting via Zoom to present the FY 2025 audit report. No findings were reported for the fiscal year. During the presentation, Mr. Stratton provided a five-year comparative summary of revenues and expenses, noting an overall increasing trend in both categories. Mrs. Hansen commented that FY 2026 may not continue this trend, as the number of Section 8 vouchers has declined over the past three months. This decline is due to the suspension of new voucher issuances and the closure of the waiting list, per HUD guidance in relation to the housing assistance payment shortfall. Mrs. Hansen also noted that in calendar year 2026, the agency will be absorbing the seven Emergency Housing Vouchers currently in use, as HUD will be discontinuing funding for that program next year.
Mr. Stratton then went on to discuss the potential long-term impacts of the federal government shutdown, including possible delays in housing assistance payment funding. He emphasized that, under terms of the HAP contracts, landlords cannot evict tenants due to delayed payments from the Housing Authority. Mrs. Marvidikis inquired whether the agency is currently experiencing any negative effects from the shutdown, and both Mr. Stratton and Mrs. Hansen confirmed that it is not at this time, although extended duration of the shutdown could have future impacts.
No other questions were raised. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ms. Marvidikis, the motion was seconded by Mr. Fallon. The meeting adjourned at 4:31 PM.
