TriCounty Health Department will be holding a stakeholder meeting for wastewater contractors to provide feedback on proposed wastewater rule changes. The purpose of this meeting is to receive input from those who will be directly impacted by these rules ahead of public hearings on Oct. 27th and 29th. The meeting will be held on Oct. 14th, at 6 p.m. at TriCounty Health Department 133 S 500 E, Vernal, UT 84078.
Synopsis of proposed changes:
- Contractors will be required to register with TriCounty Health Department so that training in wastewater disposal and treatment can be verified.
- Trained contractors will be allowed to evaluate sites for wastewater disposal without waiting for TriCounty Health Department to verify the work.
- Contractors will be required to notify TriCounty Health Department when evaluating proposed sites and when installing onsite wastewater systems.
- Registrations can be revoked for non-compliance with local and state rules.
- A grievance process will be added if registration is denied or revoked.
- These proposed changes would not alter siting, design, and installation requirements, but would enable contractors to expedite the process.
