Description/Agenda
Request for Proposal
Sevier County is soliciting responses for an economic feasibility study for the restoration of rail
operations for historic and scenic opportunities in Marysvale Canyon, Sevier County, Utah. The
project involves the re-establishment of a narrow-gauge railroad along the Sevier River. The rail
line was abandoned in the 1980s and was converted into a pedestrian pathway for outdoor
recreation. We are interested in a study to understand the implications of restoring railroad
operations for purposes of historic and scenic qualities for people visiting the region. The
Georgetown Loop Railroad near Denver is a good comparison for this project. Interested firms
are encouraged to obtain the request for proposals for further details and associated deadlines for
submitting. Contact Malcolm Nash at mrnash@sevier.utah.gov for more information.
