- August 15, 2025 DIVISION OF WATER QUALITY UTAH DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY NOTICE OF CHANGE IN PROPOSED RULE - UTAH ADMINISTRATIVE CODE R317-2, STANDARDS OF QUALITY FOR WATERS OF THE STATE. PURPOSE OF THIS NOTICE The Utah Water Quality Board previously proposed amendments to Utah's water quality standards, published in the April 15, 2025 Utah State Bulletin. BACKGROUND At the June 25, 2025 Utah Water Quality Board meeting, the Board approved proposed amendments for Colorado River salinity standards and methylmercury in fish tissue and disapproved proposed amendments for cyanotoxin criteria. The Utah Division of Water Quality filed a change in proposed rule with the Utah Office of Administrative Rules to reflect the actions of the Board. The change in proposed rule retains the approved amendments and removes previously proposed cyanotoxin criteria. PUBLIC COMMENTS The change in proposed rule is published in the August 15, 2025 Utah State Bulletin and provides a 30 day public comment period. Written comments will be accepted until 6:00 p.m. September 15, 2025 and may be submitted to Jake Vander Laan (jvander@utah.gov). For more information, visit waterquality.utah.gov.
