VERNAL CITY PUBLIC HEARING
A public hearing of the Vernal City Council has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 6th, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at which time Sunrise Engineering will review the draft environmental of the Steinaker Service Canal Trail project. This is a joint project between Vernal City, Uintah County, and the Utah Department of Transportation.
The public hearing will be held in the Vernal City Council Chambers at 374 East Main Street, Vernal, Utah.
The project proposes a 1.9-mile paved multi-use path that will repurpose the existing Steinaker Service Canal service corridor to create a safe, scenic route for walking, biking, and other non-motorized uses. The proposed trail aims to improve transportation alternatives, recreational access and enhance connectivity to multiple community assets. Led and supported by the Utah Department of Transportation's (UDOT) Trails Division, in partnership with Vernal City, Uintah County, and other local stakeholders. This project helps promote a statewide effort of growing active transportation opportunities throughout Utah.
