Notice of Intent to Amend the Land Development Code NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on June 19, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Sandy City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing regarding proposed amendments to the Sandy Land Development Code. This Planning Commission meeting will be conducted both in-person (in the Sandy City Council Chambers at City Hall, 10000 S. Centennial Pkwy.), and via Zoom Webinar (see details below). The proposed Code Amendments would amend Title 21, Land Development Code, Chapter 20, Residential Development Standards, Chapter 24, Parking, Access and Circulation Requirments, and Chapter 35, Appeals and Variances. The code amendments will bring the Sandy Land Development Code in line with new legislative changes to the Utah Code. The proposed code amendments will adjust parking standards for single- and two-family residential dwellings and remove garage requirements for owner-occupied affordable housing. Code changes will adjust requirements for a minimum residential dwelling size to be 1,000 square feet. The code amendments will also remove any requirement for a public hearing related to appeals and variances. Lastly, the code amendments will clarify that an appeal will be based on the administrative record developed by the land use authority, as well as the effective date for decisions by an appeal authority. Each of the Affected Entities is invited to provide information for the City to consider in the process of preparing, adopting, and implementing the proposed changes concerning (a) impacts that the use of land covered by the proposed changes may have on such Affected Entity; and (b) uses of land within the City that such Affected Entity is planning or considering that may conflict with the proposed changes.
