NOTICE OF DISSOLUTION OF BIG PLAINS WATER SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT ON JULY 16, 2025 a public hearing will be held by the Apple Valley Town Council (the 'Town Council') to accept public comment regarding a resolution (the 'Resolution') to dissolve the BIG PLAINS WATER SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT (the 'District') pursuant to the Utah Special Service District Act Act, Title 17D, Chapter 1, Utah Code Annotated 1953, as amended (the 'Act').
The boundary and service area of The District included the municipal boundaries of Apple Valley Town, Washington County, State of Utah (the 'Town') as such existed and were recorded on September 1, 2011 (the 'Boundary'). The Boundary is described in greater detail on Exhibit 'A' which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
Currently, the District is empowered to and has the authority to provide for or furnish any or all water and sewerage services within the Boundary to the extent they are deemed necessary or desirable by the District. The foregoing services and functions could be provided through facilities, systems or property acquired for that purpose through constructions, purchase, lease, rental, gift or condemnation, or any combination of the foregoing means, or by any other means available to special service districts as provided by law. All of the services provided by the District will be transferred to the Town upon dissolution pursuant to the Resolution.
The District does not currently pay or collect any taxes, fees, or charges, accordingly there are no tax, fee, or charge implications arising from the dissolution of the District.
All persons interested and present will be given an opportunity to be heard in this matter. This meeting will be held via electronic means, while also providing an in-person opportunity to attend or participate in the hearing at the Town Hall, located at 1777 North Meadowlark Drive Apple Valley, UT 84737.
