KANARRAVILLE TOWN MAYOR POSITION
IS OPEN FOR APPOINTMENT
Remaining Term - May 9, 2024 through December 31, 2025
The Town Board will fill this vacancy on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 6:30 pm at Town Hall, 40 South Main, Kanarraville Utah.
To be eligible to fill this position, you need to be a registered voter in Kanarraville, are not a convicted felon, and have resided in the municipality for at least one year. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 12 pm.
Job description: The mayor is responsible for overseeing various departments, enforcing all laws and regulations required to govern the town, as well as executing the policies and procedures adopted by the Town Board. The mayor is often required to represent the town at public and county meetings in addition to community functions.
Duties:
1. Preside over all public meetings.
2. Town Board meetings are currently scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month at 6:30 pm at Town Hall. Work meetings and emergency meetings may be scheduled as needed.
3. Attend ICCOG Meetings (Iron County Council of Governments) and ICRPO RTEC (Iron County Rural Planning Organization) 1st Wednesday every month at 1 pm. Meeting locations take place all over the county.
4. Attend local, county or community meetings and/or events as needed.
5. Meet with Town Clerk, managers and/or employees as needed throughout the month.
6. Work with the Town Clerk and accountant to prepare the yearly budget and sign audit documents.
7. Co-Signer on town bank accounts, bills, and employee checks.
8. Signer on government documents, loans, grants, business licenses, burial certificates, etc.
9. Participate in the Iron County Fair parade and write a statement for their brochure.
10. Be available to listen to resident's ideas, comments, and/or complaints.
11. Work with department heads and the Town Board to hire new town employees and/or managers.
12. Perform other duties as the position requires.
Pay: $150 a month
