OFFICIAL MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION BOX ELDER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT May 3, 2017 at 6 p.m. Those in attendance at the meeting included Board President Wade Hyde, Vice President Nini Anderson, Members Nancy Kennedy, Connie Archibald, Bryan Smith, and Karen Cronin, Lynne Capener was excused, as he was recovering from an operation. Also present Business Administrator Rod Cook. President Hyde welcomed those in attendance and conducted the business of the meeting. After the prayer, which was offered by Nancy Kennedy, Wade Hyde led the pledge of allegiance. Action Items Nancy Kennedy made the motion to move into closed session to discuss the qualifications and character of the candidates for the position of Superintendent. Karen Cronin seconded the motion which passed unanimously. An individual roll call revealed all were in favor. Information/Discussion Items The ranking of the candidates from the community members was discussed and the Board deliberated on the candidates selecting the top four candidates to interview on May 9, 2017. From 1:00 to 5:45 p.m. The finalists were Darin Nielsen, Steven E. Carlson, Kip Motta, and Rick Woodford. Nancy Kennedy made the motion to move out of closed session. Bryan Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. An individual roll call was unanimous in the affirmative. Adjournment With the announcement that the next meeting will be held on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at the District Office at 12:45 p.m. for interviews, President Hyde adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m. APPROVED: May 10, 2017 ATTESTED: School Business Administrator President, Board of Education Box Elder School District
