2017 Provo City Election Notice
The City of Provo will hold a non-partisan municipal General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
Positions Available for the 2017 Election
Mayor - 4-year term
City Council District 2 - 4-year term
City Council District 5 - 4-year term
City Council City Wide I - 4-year term
If more than two candidates file for an office, a primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
To qualify for candidacy a person must meet the following requirements as outlined in state and local law:
1. A United States Citizen
2. At least 18 years old at the time of the next election.
3. A resident of the municipality, or a recently annexed area, for the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of election.
4. A resident of council district 2 or 5, if filing for one of those districts.
5. A registered voter of Utah.
In accordance with Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to hold elective office is restored under Utah Code Section 20A-2-101.3 or 20A-2-101.5.
Council Members shall have no other compensated employment with the municipality.
A candidate shall file a Declaration of Candidacy in person with the City Recorder between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., June 1 through June 7, 2017 (excluding Saturday and Sunday). A fee of $75 for a council position or $150 for the office of mayor will be required at time of filing.
Any resident of a municipality may nominate a candidate for a municipal office by filing a nomination petition (with 25 signatures) and paying the filing fee with the City Recorder during office hours between June 1 and June 7, 2017.

Notice of Electronic or Telephone Participation
One or more Council members may participate by telephone or Internet communication in this meeting. Telephone or Internet communications will be amplified as needed so all Council members and others attending the meeting will be able to hear the person(s) participating electronically as well as those participating in person. The meeting will be conducted using the same procedures applicable to regular Municipal Council meetings.
