NOTICE OF MIDTERM CITY COUNCIL VACANCY


Notice is hereby given of a Midterm City Council Vacancy in Payson City, Utah. Any person interested in serving as a City Council Member, and meeting the following eligibility and residency requirements, is hereby invited to submit a letter of intent to serve. The appointed Councilmember will serve until the first Monday in January following the 2023 Municipal Election. The letter of intent to serve must be received by Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. to Payson City Recorder, 439 W Utah Avenue, Payson UT 84651. The vacancy will be filled on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, during the regular Payson City council meeting at 6:00 p.m. or immediately thereafter at 439 W Utah Avenue, Payson UT 84651. Eligibility and Residency Requirements:
-	Candidates must be a United States citizen at the time of filing for candidacy.
-	Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the appointment.
-	Candidates must be a legal resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of appointment.
-	Candidates must be a registered voter of the municipality.
-	In accordance with Utah Constitution, Article IV, Section 6, a mentally incompetent individual, an individual convicted of a felony, or an individual convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to hold elective office is restored as provided by statute.
