SUBJECT:	Fire Prevention Board Meeting 

A Fire Prevention Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at 8:30 A.M. at South Salt Lake City Hall, Council Chambers, 220 East Morris Avenue (2430 South), South Salt Lake City, Utah  84115.

The agenda for the Board Meeting will be as follows:
1.  Board meeting called to order by Board Chair Dennis Strong.
2.  Approval of the September 10, 2013 Board meeting minutes.
3. Report to the Board by State Fire Marshal Coy Porter concerning the status of the new appointees to the Board representing the State Chief’s Association, the Fire Marshal’s Association of Utah, the State Firemen’s Association and a licensed architect. 
4. Recognition of: former Board Chair, Ted Black, Board Member, Robert Stoker, Board Member, Scott Spencer, and Board Member Greg Allen, for 8 years of service to the State of Utah on the Fire Prevention Board. The presentation will be made by Board Chair, Dennis Strong.
  5. Presentation to the Board by State Fire Marshal Coy Porter requesting the appointment Craig Stanley, Chief of Blanding Fire as the replacement for former Fire Chief Corky Brewer to serve on the Board of the Utah Fire Service Certification Council.  A further request to reappoint the following individuals:  Shane Freeman, Brett Ostler, Ray Stokes, and Don Adams.  All terms will be for three years.  These appointment requests come from the Council with the approval from UFRA’s certification program manager.
6.  Old Business:  Presentation to the Board from Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Ted Black concerning the status/readiness for approval of NFPA 472, 2013 edition and NFPA 1403, 2012 edition not be considered until at least the January meeting of the Board.  
7.  New Business:
Our State Forester, Richard Buehler, has announced his retirement effective December of this year.  Dick has served the State of Utah for over 40 years and will be sorely missed.  Dick’s retirement will leave a vacancy on the Fire Prevention Board that will be filled by his successor.
Introduction to the Board of potential legislation that may come before the State Legislature in the upcoming 2014 session.
8.  Next Board Meeting – January 14, 2014, beginning 8:30 A.M. at South Salt Lake City Hall.
