PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD UTAH-HOUSING ASSISTANCE FUND (UTAH-HAF) The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) Housing and Community Development (HCD) is seeking public comment as part of the homeowner needs assessment and community engagement process as part of the Utah-Housing Assistance Fund (Utah-HAF) process. The Utah-HAF Program is funded from the U.S. Department of Treasury, established under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. DWS-Housing and Community Development will administer $66,030,555 under HAF. The Utah-HAF was established to mitigate financial hardships associated with the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) by providing funds to eligible entities for the purpose of preventing homeowner mortgage delinquencies, defaults, foreclosures, and displacements of homeowners experiencing financial hardship after January 21, 2020, through qualified expenses related to mortgages and housing. The program's goal is to aid homeowners in avoiding foreclosure on their primary residence, by providing mortgage assistance. Your lender's agreement to participate may be required, since mortgage assistance is provided directly to lenders on the homeowner's behalf. The Utah-HAF may provide assistance to eligible homeowners in the form of Reinstatement of delinquent payments, inclusive of Property Charges such as Taxes and Homeowner's Association (HOA) fees. Public comment on the Utah-HAF program and associated Plan can be provided either in person or virtually on April 1, 2022 10:30 am in Room 211 at the Department of Workforce Services Offices, 140 East 300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111.
