NOTICE OF MIDTERM CITY COUNCIL VACANCY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a Midterm City Council vacancy in Oakley, Utah. Any person interested in serving as a City Council Member, and meeting the following eligibility and residency requirement, is hereby invited to submit a letter of intent to serve. The appointed Council Member will serve until the first Monday in January following the 2021 Municipal Election.
The letter of intent to serve must be received by Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 5:00 P.M. and to the Oakley City Recorder, 960 West Center Street, Oakley UT 84055. The vacancy will be filled on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, during the regular Oakley City Council meeting at 6:00 P.M. or immediately thereafter at 960 West Center Street, Oakley UT. (UCA 20A-1-510 Sec. 10-3-301).
ELIGIBILITY AND RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:
- Candidates must be a United States citizen at the time of filing for candidacy.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Candidates must be a legal resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the appointment.
- Candidates must be a registered voter of the municipality.
- In accordance with the Utah Constitution, Article IV, Section 6, a mentally incompetent individual, an individual convicted of a felony, or an individual convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to hold elective office is restored as provided by statute.
