Governor, Senator Hatch: "No Way" to Nuclear Waste

Governor to declare Friday No Way Day

Salt Lake City - Governor Jon Huntsman joins Senator Orrin Hatch, elected officials, business leaders and community activists to call on Utahns to say "No Way" to high-level nuclear waste storage in Utah.

Governor Huntsman and Senator Hatch will host other state and local leaders and concerned citizens Friday in a rally to urge people to write letters opposing plans to transport and store highly toxic nuclear fuel rods within the state.

Salt Lake City - Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., has authorized the lowering of the Flag of the United States of America and the Flag of the State of Utah on Wednesday, April 12, 2006. The flags shall be flown at half-staff on all state facilities from sunrise to sunset in honor and memory of Specialist Ty John Johnson. Mr. Johnson was killed in the line of duty while serving in Iraq. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., April 12, 2006.

Hamilton replaces Donald E. Blanchard as the Chair of the Board. Hamilton has been serving on the Board of Pardons and Parole since September 2005.

GOED, DCC Poised for New Leadership

Jason Perry will be the new director of GOED, replacing Richard Bradford, who is planning to retire from state government after13 years of service.

The flags shall be flown at half-staff on all state facilities from sunrise to sunset in honor and memory of Staff Sgt. Gregson Gourley. Mr. Gourley was killed in the line of duty while serving with the 101st Airborne Division in Hawijah, Iraq. Funeral services are scheduled for March 3, 2006.
