Although Millard County seems to have shaken off most of the construction losses related to the wrap-up of a 2011 construction project, many of its remaining industries continue suffer a job drain according to recently released nonfarm job figures. In addition, the only current economic indicator moving in the “right” direction is the unemployment rate.

Utah’s nonfarm wage and salaried job count for December 2012, as generated by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), expanded by 2.9 percent compared against the employment level for December 2011. This is a 12-month increase of 35,800 jobs and raises total wage and salary employment to 1,270,400.

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development, USTAR, the Leonardo and the Canadian Consulate in Denver are co-hosting an event aimed to spur discussion in the digital media community. Utah homeowners have received $152,992,578 in mortgage loan relief so far under the national mortgage settlement. Attorney General Mark Shurtleff made the announcement today after the progress report came out from the National Mortgage Settlement Monitor that shows 2,491 Utah borrowers received relief during the past seven months.
