About The Utah State Treasurer
The Utah State Treasurer is a state-wide elected constitutional officer and serves Utah as part of its executive branch of state government. Serving a four-year term, the Treasurer is the state's chief financial officer, and is responsible for the prudent financial management of billions of taxpayer dollars.
As the custodian of public moneys and the "central bank for state agencies," he oversees the collection, safeguarding, investment and disbursement of state funds.
The Treasurer also implements and operates numerous investment programs, including the Public Treasurer's Investment Fund and the State School Fund. The Treasurer issues all debt obligations authorized on behalf and in the name of the State.
