6:30 pm Public Meeting Regarding a New Zone Type and Proposed Rezone
This Public Meeting is being held to discuss potential development on property located to the west of Herriman High School (see attached map). The property is currently zoned A-1 agricultural. While a formal application has not yet been submitted, a developer has expressed interest in this location and the potential development would require a zone change of the property. This meeting will allow the developer the opportunity to inform the community of their proposed project, answer questions and address any concerns before the required process begins. The city will provide information on a new zone, TM (Technology/Manufacturing) under which this development would be considered.
This meeting is the second scheduled public meeting on this topic, with the purpose of the meeting being:
1- To allow the developer/owner to present to the residents the proposed development plan including plans, renderings, their re-zone request and mitigation ideas based on previous resident input.
2- To provide representatives from the City to explain the new zone, TM (Technology/Manufacturing) under which the developer/owner feels their project would fit.
3- The community will be given ample opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions and provide helpful feedback. Such input will be documented and provided to both the Planning Commission and the City Council for careful and critical examination as part of the required process. The required process will not begin until a formal application has been received by the developer.
Items to consider include:
- Lessen the residential impact and high density housing
- Impact reduction to local schools
- Potential impact to surrounding neighborhoods
- Generate sales tax dollars for the community allowing for Herriman City to keep property taxes down
- Potential job creation
- Reduction to maintenance costs for the City
- Traffic/Safety Concerns
In efforts to inform residents before the formal process begins, the City Council would like to solicit input from the surrounding neighborhoods regarding the proposal. If you have questions or are unable to attend, you may contact the Planning Department at the Herriman City Offices, Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. or email planning@herriman.org.
